Natasha Bedingfield Presents $20,000 "Maxell Song of the Year" to Colourslide
“Wake-Up Call” Earns $20,000 Top Prize in Internationally Acclaimed John Lennon Songwriting Contest
(New York, June 25, 2008) --- Colourslide, Rock category winners of the 11th annual John Lennon Songwriting Contest, was awarded the coveted Maxell Song of the Year prize. Natasha Bedingfield presented the grand prize, a $20,000 check courtesy of Maxell Corporation, at the Fillmore at Irving Plaza in New York City, where Natasha made a stop on her Verizon VIP Tour. Colourslide had the unique opportunity to open the show for the top-selling artist. Writers of the winning song, “Wake-Up Call,” are band members Dean Newman and Alex Lawhon.
In addition to the cash and prizes Colourslide wins, the band will appear on Warped Tour dates in Orlando, Tampa, Miami andJacksonville, Florida, their home state, from July 10-13.
A total of over $330,000 in cash and prizes will be distributed this year by the year-round Lennon Contest open to both amateur and professional songwriters. The prestigious contest is made possible by an agreement with Yoko Ono Lennon.
