Start Playing
So…Wanna Play?
Teens
What teen doesn’t love music? Ready to get
active and start making music? For information on how to start playing,
music in school or as a career, the latest instruments stop by your
local NAMM-member community music store.
Adults
Whether you are looking for a pastime
with friends or your second chance at stardom, why not pick up a
musical instrument and have some fun. Weekend Warriors is a program
that provides members of the community a place to come together and
make music. Visit your local retailer and ask them about Weekend
Warriors for a place to practice with other adult musicians of all
levels and a musical “coach” to help the band succeed and, more
importantly, have fun! So dust off that instrument and let’s play!
Seniors
Want to strengthen your mind, fight
memory loss, lower your blood pressure or just simply start a funhobby
you can enjoy socially or alone? Playing a musical instrument does all
of the above, plus more. For wonderful opportunities to start making
music, at any skill level or age, go to www.newhorizonsmusic.org or stop by your local NAMM-member community music store.
Also, if you are ready to feel younger and bring new life to your daily routine, visit your local retailer and ask them about the NAMM-funded Music Making and Wellness program to participate in group music lessons for people ages 55 and above.
Parent
Studies show how young children develop
and grow with music. With NAMM’s Sesame Street Music Works program,
kids up to age 6 and their parents, teachers and caregivers can make
music, have fun, learn and grow. The program uses various media
components, including television, video, the Internet, books, magazines
and local/national public events. Ask you local retailer for details
about the Sesame Street Music Works program.
Visit your local music retailer to select the instrument that’s right for you or to learn more about the above programs. To find the retailer closest to you, please click on our Dealer Locator.
