Gabe Dixon
Gabe Dixon Band is a three-piece band that was formed in the fall of 1998 at the University of Miami. Their music is piano-driven rock akin to Ben Folds Five with a more serious tone. They worked with producer/engineer Eddie Kramer on their independently released debut album, More Than It Would Seem, in 1999. They relocated to New York City after graduation and were signed to Warner Bros./Reprise by famed producer David Kahne (Fishbone, Sublime, Sugar Ray). It was through Kahne that Paul McCartney first heard Dixon, and shortly thereafter Dixon was helming the keyboards on McCartney's Driving Rain album and in front of millions at the "Concert For New York" to raise funds for the victims of the 9/11 attack.
Before moving to New York, the band was trimmed to a four-piece, and since the release of On A Rolling Ball in 2002, the band has again distilled its essence and its sound by bringing the line-up down to its current trio of piano, drums and bass. Their song, "All Will Be Well off" of Live at World Cafe, their newest album, rose to moderate prominence when it was used in promos for the NBC show, Conviction. The band have recently finished their debut album for Fantasy Records due for release in Summer 2008.
