Jon McLaughlin grew up in Anderson, Indiana. He played piano through his childhood, and went on to attend Anderson University to study music. He released an independent album titled, Up Until Now, in
2003, which led him to sign on with local label, Orangehaus Records. In 2005, Jon recorded an 8-song EP and toured to promote it before signing on with Island Records in 2006. Many of his songs have appeared in TV programs and movies, and he has performed with many high-profile musical acts, including Kelly Clarkson, O.A.R., Sister Hazel, Cowboy Mouth, Paolo Nutini and Marc Broussard. He also performed at the 80th Academy Awards, after receiving an Oscar nomination for his song "So Close," which appeared in the Oscar-nominated Disney film Enchanted. He continues to record and write songs, collaborating with Jason Mraz, Demi Lovato and many others.
