Orianthi
Born: January 12, 1984
Birthplace: Adelaide, South Australia
Notable Achievements: Lead Guitarist for Michael Jackson's "This Is It" Tour
At 24 years old, Orianthi has already experienced what most aspiring artists only dream of. She has opened for her hero Steve Vai, backed American Idol Carrie Underwood, traded solos with Carlos Santana and shared the stage with the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
Orianthi's musical fascination began at the age of six listening to her dad's record collection of guitar legends, such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Carlos Santana. She began playing acoustic guitar, but after seeing Santana perform live at the age of 11, she begged her father to buy hera second-hand electric guitar. She then bought all of Santana's videos and kept rewinding to learn his guitar solos. Seven years later, Orianthi met Carlos when he passed through town again and jammed on stage with him for more than a half an hour.
Since that time, Orianthi has played with Prince, ZZ Top and Adam Lambert, and was handpicked by Michael Jackson to play on his farewell tour, This Is It. Unfortunately, the world lost a legend and the tour never took place, but many people around the world were introduced to Orianthi through the documentary chonicling Michael's final rehearsals for the tour.
Working with Geffen Records, Orianthi is now promoting her album, Believe, on which she sings, writes and leads her own band.
