A Southern California native, Eggold participated in many school theater performances before becoming a theater arts major at the University of Southern California. Eggold also writes music, plays guitar and piano and sings in a band.
He had recurring roles on the Young and the Restless, Entourage, Out of Jimmy's Head, Brothers and Sisters and Veronica Mars, before obtaining his first series regular gig on the show Dirt. He now plays English teacher Ryan Matthews in the Beverly Hills 90210 spinoff, despite being less than a year older than several of the actors who play his students.
