Bio:

Long before his monster success in Mötley Crüe, Tommy Lee was learning the drums as a young child. He received his first drum when he was 4, and got a full drum kit when he was a teenager. While performing with his first successful band, Suite 19, he met future bandmate, Nikki Sixx. At this time, he changed his name from Thomas Lee Bass
to Tommy Lee. Shortly afterward, guitarist Mick Mars joined the band and recommended a singer Tommy had met while in high school, Vince Neil—and Mötley Crüe was formed. With several hit songs, the band became one of the biggest hard rock/metal bands during the 1980s.

After temporarily quitting his position as Mötley Crüe's drummer, Tommy formed the rap-metal band Methods of Mayhem with rapper TiLo in 1999. This collaboration produced its first self-titled album that year, which went platinum.

In more recent years, Tommy has made guest appearances on albums by other artists, and released two solo albums, Never a Dull Moment in May 2002 and Tommyland: The Ride in August 2005. He also toured as an electronic
dance music DJ with his Methods Of Mayhem DJ/production partner, DJ
Aero, a collaboration known as
Electro Mayhem. In 2009, Tommy confirmed that he is currently working on his third solo album to be released in 2010.
