Solange Monette

I have a strong musical background and diverse experiences in playing African and Brazilian music in groups giving public performances, and in facilitating drum circles.

Training:
I played the violin ten years and played in the orchestra at the Quebec Conservatory of Music (Montreal) where I studied for seven years. I have been drumming for eleven years. I first studied the conga with Arturo Rodriguez and Barbara Bird (Tucson); then the djembe with David Chiaw (Calgary), Michel Seguin, Jr. (Montreal), and Martin Klabunde (Tucson); the taiko with Odaiko Sonora (Tucson); the dun-dun with Martin Klabunde and Adamma Dembele (Tucson); and now the repenique with Batucaxe (Tucson). I took a couple of HealthRhythmm trainings.

Special Interests:
The health and emmpowering aspects and bringing the joy of drumming to people. I mostly work with adults adding singing, laughing and sharing our thoughts and experiences to our drummming.
