well my interest in music started when i was 13 when my close friend from school bought a guitar for himself when i learned he was playing i wanted to learn too so i begged my parents for a guitar luckily my uncle, whom which i was living with at the time with my dad and little brother, had an old acoustic guitar that sat in his closet sort of neglected.so my dad bought it from him and gave it to my on my birthday or someday close to it. from then on i was dedicated to learn the most i could so the first thing i did was go out and bought a copy of guitar for dummies lol and i studied it everyday along with other tabs off the internet oh by the way ultimate-guitar.com has been the best tab site ive been on. anyways with help from my friend who initially sparked my interest i learned a lot me an him would go over to eachothers houses and just jam always challenging eachother, me an him had a bit of a friendly rivalry if one of us learned something surely the other would try to one up it to me it was fun and helped keep us fresh when it came to learning sometimes we would give eachother tasks like "ok ima learn fade to black by metallica and you learn something something and lets do it by the end of the month" haha sometimes we'd take a lot longer than we planned but eventually we would finish what we started. eventually i got a little bored with acoustic and wanted an electric guitar so the begging started again and my dad was hesitant because he wasn't sure if he could trust that i would really stick to the guitar since i had only been playing for so little time but i was sure i would and i bugged him until he gave in an took me to sam ash to get my first electric which was a squire strat starter pack it came with the guitar a little 15 watt amp gig bag strap and all that good stuff. i was excited but my skills were kind of sorry but still i stuck to magazines and online tabs as my teacher and i got better my friend had also got himself a squire which was almost exactly the same as mine eventually we both found an interest in the drums i got a set he got a set the rivalry continued...lol but guitar was more my thing and drums seemed to be his new thing so it was only time before we wanted to start a band we jammed in my garage whenever we could but for some reason we never really made anything solid the farthest we got was recruiting a bassist and made two songs together which was a lot of fun eventually my friend and me stopped playing together he got his own band which formed and broke up just as fast and for the longest time i just practiced in my garage alone everyday building my guitar skills ive always been drawn to heavy metal my favorite bands were megadeth iron maiden metallica judas priest etc which was my main inspiration on guitar all i wanted to be was a lead guitarist for a band but i always thought it would be cool if i never made it just as long as i kept on trying to get better i got my first halfstack when i was about 16 i had just burned out my little 15 watt amp and i convinced my dad that a halfstack would last me forever once i got that halfstack i felt unstopable i swear i couldn't stop smiling all day i was so happy he bought be a marshall avt 50 halfstack soon my squire strat busted on me when my input jack was torn out and i needed a guitar.....the begging came back finally my dad said ima buy you one more guitar its gonna be the last gift i ever get you so enjoy it i could'nt comlain so we went to guitar center and started shopping around i had so many guitars on my list that i wanted i liked esp ibanez jackson but my unicorn was the jackson rr1 which stands for the randy rhoads model randy rhoads was my favorite guitarist at the time and the guitar was ultimately the most beautiful guitar i had ever seen but the price tag wasn't very pretty i tried it out and i couldve had it but there were no american models and the japanese models felt a little flimsy so i ended up landing on a japanese dinky that was all black it cost a pretty penny i took it home and plugged it in and im not gonna lie within minutes i was really unsatisfied it just had a sound that i could only describe as not me so i told my dad and to this day feel so spoiled but he took it back the next day ant told ok what do you want i looked around and i looked in the vintage room and there it was an all white almost creme colored us jacskon rhoads it must have just got in because i had never seen it before i said that one!! my dad said whoa! no way it was so expensive but i plugged it in and tried it and i felt the tingles run down my neck it sounded perfect my dad said what about the other guitar all i could say was ill take whatever you buy for me....but i want this one my dad must really love me because he got it for me if i felt so unworthy to have my dream guitar in my hands i thanked my dad eternally and promised him that when i got older everyone in the world would know what that guitar sounds like. this story is kind of long and i don't know how interesting it is but ima keep going...so i have the halfstack i have the rhoads im on cloud nine i kept practicing my butt off and finally got myself in a band its the band that im in now were called Koza Nostra which translates as 'Our Thing' were a ska band local to los angeles we formed in south central and have been playing backyard shows recording little things here and there right now were working twoards getting a solid demo for the most part i feel so accomplished when i first picked up a guitar i never thought i'd have what it took to be in a band but after so many years of practice im glad i finally got the chance i kinda feel like i can die happy now because being in a band and playin live is all i wanted to do and now i have but now that i know how easy it is to get this far i wanna go further over the years i have grown to love guitars so much that all i want to do is work with them my dreaM is to have my own music store where i can fix sell teach guitars and do anything in the field ive been learning and i even fixed my squire i even gave it a new look for now im really trying hard to break into music as much as i can ive got eight years of guitar experience and about one year in a band making music i can't wait to see whats gonna happen this new year in 2010 i wanna take over and me and the rhoads are gonna try till were both dead
